MEET OUR TEAM

Our Story

After praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ, we are pleased to introduce the founders and Islamic advisors of The Doors of Knowledge Academy (DOKA).

The Doors of Knowledge Academy (DOKA) is founded and guided by a team of Muslims with diverse strengths, united by a shared vision. We recognise the urgent need for an Islamic school in Trinidad that offers children a well-rounded education—both Islamically and academically—firmly rooted in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah, with the correct understanding.

Meet Our Academic Coordinator: Sister Aamina (Alyssa Johnson)
Educator | School Founder | Child Development Specialist

Sister Aamina is an educator and school owner who has successfully operated a private learning center since 2018. She holds certifications in Special Education, Early Childhood Care and Education, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Child Psychology, Lesson Planning, and more. Alhamdulillah, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of child development to our team. She also holds a Certificate in Psychology from the University of the West Indies and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her multilingual abilities include fluency in English, intermediate Spanish, and introductory knowledge of French and sign language.

Meet Our Administrative Coordinator: Umm Xainab (Renee Rawlins)
Business Professional | Operations Strategist | Creative Thinker

Umm Xainab brings a strong background in business management. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an Associate of Science in Management with honors from the University of New Brunswick. She has additional qualifications in business studies, digital marketing, and graphic design—skills that contribute significantly to the smooth operation of our academy by Allah's permission.

Meet Our Academic Advisor: Sister Nusaybah (Celcita Grant-Abdullah)
Experienced Educator | Early Childhood Specialist | School Principal

Sister Nusaybah brings over a decade of hands-on experience and academic expertise to The Doors of Knowledge Academy. She began her journey in early childhood education by earning a Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education from the University of the West Indies Open Campus, and went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in ECCE at the UWI School of Education. With 12–13 years of teaching experience and nearly 7 years of leadership as a Principal and Administrator (officially marking 7 years this August, in shaa Allah), she has developed a strong reputation for excellence in both classroom instruction and school management.

Meet our Islamic Advisors

To ensure that DOKA’s programs and curriculum remain firmly grounded in authentic Islamic teachings, we are supported by three trusted Islamic advisors:

  • Imam Edue Muhammad of Masjid Ul Khaleefah

  • Imam Aamron Shageer of Chaguanas Masjid

  • Ustaadh Rasheed Khan graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah

With a committed team of educators, administrators, and Islamic advisors, we work collaboratively to offer children a nurturing, high-quality education—both academically and Islamically. Our goal is to raise children who are firmly grounded in Tawheed strong in character and well-prepared for success in both this life and the next.

We ask Allah ﷻ to grant us sincerity, bless our efforts, and make this endeavor a means of continuous charity (sadaqah jāriyah) for all involved.
