Our Kindergarten Programme at The Doors of Knowledge Academy (DOKA) is designed to prepare children for a successful transition to primary school while continuing to nurture their growth in knowledge, character and faith.

Through structured, hands-on and purposeful learning, children build confidence, independence, communication and problem-solving skills while developing the academic foundations needed for the next stage of their education.

Islamic Curriculum

Our Islamic curriculum is rooted in the Qur’aan and authentic Sunnah, with teachings presented in an age-appropriate and engaging manner.

Children continue to develop their knowledge of:

• Qur’aan Memorisation & Tafseer: Memorising selected surahs and learning their meanings.

• Aqeedah: Developing an understanding of the fundamentals of Islamic belief from the Qur’aan and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf as-Saalih.

• Seerah & Hadith: Learning from the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and authentic hadith.

• Adhkaar & Du’aa: Learning, understanding and memorising daily supplications and remembrances.

• Islamic Manners & Character: Developing sincerity, kindness, honesty, respect and good character.

• Arabic: Continuing development through the Qaa’idah, vocabulary and foundational Arabic reading and pronunciation.

Islam is integrated throughout the school day, helping children strengthen their connection to Allah ﷻ and His revelation.

Academic Curriculum

Our academic programme follows a modified Trinidad and Tobago ECCE curriculum, with increased expectations to prepare children for primary school.

Key areas include:

• Reading & Phonics: Phonics, sight words, blending, reading simple words and sentences, and developing reading comprehension.

• Writing & Language: Letter formation, spelling, sentence formation, creative writing and developing communication skills.

• Mathematics: Number knowledge, counting, addition and subtraction, patterns, shapes, measurement and problem-solving.

• Personal & Social Development: Independence, emotional regulation, communication, cooperation and responsibility.

• Life Skills: Developing independence in daily routines, decision-making and problem-solving.

• Physical Development: Fine and gross motor skills, coordination and physical activity.

• Knowledge & Understanding of the World: Exploring the environment, nature, science and the world around us.

• Creative Development: Opportunities for creative exploration, practical activities and imaginative play.

Children engage in thematic and project-based learning, allowing them to apply their knowledge across different areas while developing curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Primary School Readiness

A key focus of the Kindergarten Programme is ensuring children are prepared for the transition to primary school. Children are supported in developing:

• Reading and writing skills

• Phonics and comprehension

• Number knowledge and mathematical reasoning

• Communication and listening skills

• Independent work habits

• Problem-solving skills

• Confidence and classroom independence

At DOKA, we aim to prepare children not only academically but also in character, confidence and faith. Our goal is to equip each child with the knowledge, skills and Islamic foundation needed to continue their educational journey, by the permission of Allah.

Programme Information & Fees

• Programme: Kindergarten Programme

• Age: 4–5 years

• School Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

• Registration Fee: $175

• Termly Tuition: $3,200

• Monthly Tuition: $950, payable over 11 months (September–July)

Additional Services & Extracurricular Options

• Before Care: Optional early drop-off from 7:30 a.m. — $400 per term

• Swimming: Weekly swimming during school hours — $450 per term

Additional services are optional and charged separately from tuition.
